Abstract
Illyrian Movement which began in the XIXth century, aims to combine different regional identities such as Dalmatian, Slavonian, Chorvat, Orthodox/Serbian which formed over the centuries under the name of Illyrian in Croatia. Until the Revolutions period of 1848, Illyrian Idea had a cultural character and its goal was to provide cultural and linguistic unity of South Slavs. In 1848, the Movement acquired a political character and it requested political power on behalf of Illyrian people. The political program of the movement was to obtain a federal unit in the name of Illyrian people (Croats, Serbs, Slovenes) who live within the border Habsburg Monarchy. In this study, the program and the goals of Illyrian Movement were explained and also historical information which obtained from written sources are interpreted.
