Abstract

This article analyses Latin-language names of insects according to the morphоlogical peculiarities of words with affixoidcomponent. The morphological specificity of affixoids’ usage in the Latin zoological nomenclature is researched. The author examines different scientific ideas, connecting with the problem of linguistic status of affixoidmorphems. It is important, that there is no unigue point of view on the affixoids in the Latin nomenclature. These affixoid-morphems aren’t recognized as a separate group of morphemes, while in some cases affixoidmorphems save their shape (form) and the original meaning of morphemes derivatives (e.g. pseud-, -ger, -fer, -morpha, -formis), sometimes ? do not store any morphological origin of morpheme derivatives (-сeps, -fica) and any original meaning (-oides, -cola, -ago). The author considers affixoids not as a separate group of morphemes, because they are the same in morphological meaning with composite-words and suffixal words. Linguistic analysis of affixoids in the Latin nomenclature affirms dual character of these morphological components.
