Abstract
The article presents results of the MERIDIAN-RO study. Risk factors of cardiovascular diseases among population of Ryazan region have been defined. Considering high prevalence of traditional behavioral risk factors among the fore-mentioned population, new long-term strategies of prevention of non-infectious diseases are needed in order to improve eating behavior, increase physical activity, control body mass, discontinue tobacco smoking in persons between the ages of 25 and 64, as well as children and adolescents.
