Abstract
The study included 52 adult patients with pathologically verified renal tumors: 27 patients with clear cell subtype of the renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC), 12 patients with oncocytoma and 13 patients with angiomyolipoma. All patients underwent renal MR imaging which included diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) with subsequent apparent diffusion coefficient measurement (ADC). There was a significant difference in ADC between the malignant and benign renal lesions. The difference in ADC values in patients with high and low ccRCC grades was observed. DWI can be used as the effective tool for the differentiation of the renal lesions and the ADC can be used as an additional parameter for the differential diagnostics of the renal cell carcinoma.
