Abstract
Matrix metalloproteinases (so called matrixins) are the group of endopeptidases, playing the great role in extracellular matrix destruction, in destruction of basal membranes and some superficial cellular proteins. That enzymes take part in many physiological and pathological processes in an organism. This article concerns the role of metalloproteinases in pulmonary pathology.
