Abstract

This research is aimed at exploring the professionalism and competency of lectures based on the case study in Faculty of Islamic Education and Teaching, IAIN of Bukittinggi. The design of research employs field research thorugh qualitative and quantitative approach (mixing method). The data is collected through interview, documentation, and questionnaire. The data which is achieved through interview and documentation are analyzed descriptively and qualitatively. Then, the questionnaire is analyzed descriptively and quantitatively. The finding of research indicates that the professionalism of lecturers is very effective (71 %), effective (71 %), and enough effective (60%). The percentage of competency of lecturers generally achieves the highest level (86 %) or categorized as very effective. The competency of pedagogy achieves the second level which is categorized as effective (80 %). The third level is achieved by the competency of personality which is categorized as effective (77 %). The final level is the competency of social which is categorized as effective (76 %).
