Abstract
The features of evaluativity of texts of literary critical essays of three types are analyzed and compared in the article. Research materials are the works of modern English-speaking writers. As a result of the comparative analysis the author comes to a conclusion that the evaluative component is often contained in the name of the essay, intensively used evaluative units are dispersed in the text, the set of frequency objects of an assessment is typical for the literary critical essay, in the essay the abundance of lexicon with absolute evaluative meaning and means of intensification / deintensification of evaluative meaning are noted.
