Abstract
In Digital Library environment the development of information communication technology (ICT) have brought technological changes in the higher educational institutional libraries like university libraries and college libraries. At present Information communication technology (ICT) is noticeable in all level of education. In the digital library section most recent influence of the ICT in the field of education is recognized as e-learning. This article is discussed about e-learning initiatives in the field of library and information science. This article defines e learning and its characteristics, and describes the tools of e-learning. E-learning education is reduced the gap between professors and the students through the following technologies like Internet, Intranet, E-Book, E-Journals, Electronic magazines, CD-ROMs, Video tapes Audio tapes, Video conference, Teleconference, Mobile Phones, Multimedia etc. This article discusses about advantage and disadvantages of the E-learning
