Abstract
The article deals with the diachronic analysis of precedent phenomena in The New Yorker issues published from 1925 to 2015. More specifically, it is devoted to the phenomena bearing a relation to such distinguished writers of Russian origin as Alexander Pushkin and Vladimir Nabokov, whose names are precedent in The New Yorker issues of 2015. The results demonstrate different significance of these authors and their literary works to the welleducated American reader at various times during nine decades.
