Abstract
This article describes the issues of translation of obsolete Russian vocabulary. The difficulties associated with various forms of archaisms and historicisms that are dealt with by each translator who wishes to convey the spirit of the original as correctly as possible, while maintaining the unique style of the work, are considered. Indeed, the most accurate and high-quality translation of any text gives an opportunity to plunge into the culture, history and traditions of the people depicted in the translated work, adding a flavor of one’s own language, which only helps to establish contact between different cultures.
