Abstract

In this article the meaning of euphemism as linguistic, social and cultural phenomenon in the Arabic language is examined and its motivation revealed. By way of analyzing the influence of lexical and semantic changes in Arabic, one can conclude that, in some cases, euphemistic function vanishes with time and turns into a prohibition.
