The concept of the civil competence of a primary school teacher

The article is an attempt to disclose the meaning of the concept "civil competence of a future primary school teacher" through the scientific and theoretical analysis of philosophical, psychological and educational literature and to reveal the importance of students’ civil education in modern conditions. Special attention is paid to the categories of "citizenship", "civil culture", "civil behavior", "citizenship" and "civil awareness". The basic factors that influence the development of pedagogical college students’ civil competence are defined. A conclusion is made that the importance of the development of civil competence for primary school teachers is determined by its place and role in the system of the formation of future citizens’ identity.
