The Evaluation Tool for Students’ Learning Outcomes according to TQF for Higher Education (2009) and the Readiness for ASEAN

Abstract

The objective of this research was to invent a tool to evaluate students’ learning outcomes according to TQF for higher education (2009) and the readiness for ASEAN, and to propose the tool usage. Population was 15,389 making 390 samples (p<0.05) covering undergraduate students in 3 institutes in Surin; Rajamangala University of Technology-Isan, Surin Campus, Surindra Rajabhat University, and Boromarajonani College of Nursing, Surin. Data was collected during December 3 ? 11, 2012 and using the findings of the confirmative factor analysis from the research of Student Developments according to Thai Qualifications Framework for Higher Education (2009) and their Readiness for ASEAN Community (Sritalanook, 2013). The factors were selected in regards of communalities >0.5, and Eigen values >0.5 to form up the evaluation items for each learning outcomes. The results showed that the evaluation tool congruent with TQF for Higher Education (2009) and the readiness for ASEAN Community was composed of 6 learning outcome evaluations; the moral which composed of the desired characteristics and the virtue, the knowledge, the intellect, the relationship and responsibility, the math analysis ? communication ? technology, and the readiness for ASEAN which composed of the English skills and the membership of ASEAN. As for the suggestion of the tool usage, there should be 2 types of evaluations. Firstly, the 360 degree method for evaluating students’ learning outcomes in the moral, the relationship and responsibility, and the membership of ASEAN in the areas of the memberships of ASEAN. And secondly, the lecturers’ evaluations in the knowledge, the intellect, the math analysis, communication and technology, and the readiness for ASEAN in the areas of the English skills
