The Effect of Leadership Factors on Work Effectiveness of Dean’s in Rajamangala University of Technology

Abstract
The objectives of this research study are to: 1) examine the effect of leadership factors on work effectiveness of dean’s in Rajamangala University of Technology 2) develop and to investigate the consistency of a structural relationships between leadership factors and work effectiveness of Dean’s in Rajamangala University of Technology 3) develop the recommended the policy to improve dean’s work effectiveness. The samples used in this study are lecturers, deans, vice presidents in academic affairs and presidents. The independent variables in this study consist of dean’s personal background, other related situations, dean’s characteristics, and dean’s behaviors while the dependent variable is dean’s work effectiveness. The questionnaire survey was applied as a research instruments. The reliability of the questionnaire items were tested by Cronbach’s Alpha Coefficient with overall value of 0.987 and the value of each construct ranging between 0.706-0.966. The respondents in this study consist of 840 of lecturers and 80 deans of 9 Rajamangala University of Technology selected by Proportional Stratified Random Sampling and using population as samples. In addition, the content of semi-structure questionnaire used in this study was verified by 18 of the university presidents and vice presidents in academic affairs. The statistical results of this study indicate that: 1) All leadership factors are in high level. 2) Workeffectivenessof the deans in Rajamangala UniversityofTechnology was directly affected by dean’s behaviors and dean’s characteristics at the strength of 0.50 and 0.39 consecutively. The work effectiveness was indirectly affected by related situations at the strength of 0.71. The total effects of dean’s behaviors and dean’s characteristics were 0.89 and 0.71 consecutively. 3) The interview results indicated that the presidents and vice presidents are agreed with the draft of policy’s suggestions in the part of regulations on dean’s selection should be reviewed. Dean’s leadership and vision should also be supported and promoted. Lastly, regarding dean’s behavior, the dean should be loved and trusted by all subordinates. Finally, management policy should be clear and enhance teamwork environment and create positive relationships among all employees.
