Abstract
This article presents results of the research aimed at studying metaphor as a way of secondary naming on the example of derivation of verb lexis of destruction in Russian in XI-XVII centuries. Verbs with secondary meaning of destruction were studied. The conclusion is made that metaphorical mapping is effective in formation of semantically derivative verbs. Some common models of semantic derivation for verb lexis with the meaning of destruction in Russian are allocated.
