Abstract

The article is devoted to the question of using didactic games as effective means off studying foreign languages by primary pupils. Didactic game functions and its main principles and ways of using in the studying process are defined. Besides, didactic conditions that guarantee its effective implementation in the studying process are pointed out. They include teachers and pupils cooperating at the preparation, operation and conclusion stages of the game, didactic games simplicity according to their content and their suitability to psychological peculiarities and age abilities of primary pupils, using different kinds of didactic games that keep primary pupils stable interest to studying foreign languages, stimulating the development of motivate sphere and academic activity of primary pupils, suitability of didactic game content to the lesson aim and tasks. The author points out the main principles of teaching foreign languages for primary pupils using didactic games. They include the principle of didactic games of communicative orientation, the principle of motivative support of studying process by the means of didactic games, the principle of didactic games suitability according to its content, age orientation and the level of primary pupils development, the principle of active participation, the principle of dynamics, the principle of full involvement, the principle of team work, the principle of visual support, the principle of interactivity, the principle of the focus on the results, the principle of competitiveness. According to the author`s viewpoint, following the mentioned above didactic principles in the process of organizing and operating didactic games at the lessons of foreign languages at the primary school can result in the effective innovations and give an opportunity to intensify the process of studying on the whole.
