Abstract
An internal form of 400 toponyms, motivated by denotation of the co-located object, is analysed. At the first level of hierarchy, 2 subclasses are distinguished depending on description of base word for derivation ? toponym or denominative noun. The names are structured in groups taking into account the method of derivation within each subclass. In the first subclass the distinction between the Slavic and non-Slavic toponyms is conditioned by phonetics and grammar of language, in the second subclass there are semantic distinctions in application of models of generation of words.
