Special features of socio-political views of S. V. Petliura in the years of 1902-1917

Abstract

The article examines the social and political views of the great statesman,and leader of the Ukrainian revolution 1917–1920. We analyze the views S. V. Petliura for Russian and European versions of socialism, his attitude to national socio-economic and cultural problems of the Ukrainian people to their causes and search for solutions in 1902–1917. We see the gradual evolution of the socio-political views of S. Petliura from socialism toward to national dominant. And the author points out that S. Petliura professed European social-democratic doctrine, which significantly differed from the Russian pattern of socialism and declared national liberation non-people. Special attention is paid to the so-called Moscow period in the life of S. Petliura, from 1912 to 1917. At tha time move from socialist dogmas to the dominant of national worldview. In the article this work is indicated as decisive, because it shows the main principles of the ideological paradigm of S. Petliura. Among them: the desire to get the most positive results for the Ukrainian nation from any geopolitical events, even from the world war; in international policy – focus to the Entente, and the need to unite all Ukrainian lands into a single state.
