Abstract
Metal matrix composites (MMCs) has gained considerable scientific and technological interest as they offer with respect to processing and fabrication using existing infrastructure. Property enhancement in MMCs attracted researchers due to the availability of reinforcements andsuitable processing technique for the fabrication of composite at competitive price.Aluminum alloys are the extensively used matrix materials in MMCs both in industrial and research context due to the high specific strength. It offers excellent mechanical properties in conjunction with high corrosion resistance are well understood and these properties can be tailored to satisfy different requirements. MMCs provide right combination of mechanical properties of metal matrix, including high toughness and ductility, and reinforcement particles such as high stiffness and hardness. Present study is aimed to assess the mechanical properties, wear property of A380-TiB2-Gr MMCs with different Weight% of reinforcement material additions (3%, 6% and 9% of TiB2on weight basis) and 3 wt.% of graphite in particulate form by employing the stir casting process
