Abstract

This article focuses on the elaborating priorities of development of the region as a stable ecological and socioeconomic systems. The concept of bioeconomy has become widespread in Europe and around the world. Bioeconomy as a means of achieving of achieving sustainability of ecological and socio-economic systems is considered in this article. In accordance with the concept, the task of ensuring economic development of the region is formulated taking into account socio-ecological usefulness of exploiting ecosystem resources in the production and consumption of goods and services. When assessing threats to regional development, the principles of bioeconomy are used. The specificity of the urban ecosystem is in high anthropogenic load. The work uses the methodological approaches set out in the concept life cycle assessment (from cradle to factory gate). The interpretation of eco-efficiency as an aspect of sustainability, that links the environmental characteristics of а product system throughout its life cycle with the functional, economic and other benefits of the product system, has made it possible to consider the region as a production system. The application of the life-cycle assessment principles to the region's ecological and socio-economic system of the region made it possible not only to highlight the negative effects inherent in specific stages of production and consumption of goods, but also to evaluate them as starting points for transforming the region's economy and infrastructure. For the region, this is primarily due to the problem of waste management, including industrial, biological and household. The purpose of further research is to study the life cycle of «inefficient» products and industries to analyze the possibilities of clustering activities and enterprises based on the reuse of resources and waste.
