Abstract
History has shown that disruption have been a part of human race. Technological disruptions have fuelled innovation that transformed the economy and this is still the case in the contemporary human society. Certainly the most discussed economic events of 2016 in INDIA was not GST or Benami Properties Bill or FDI easing but the unprecedented move of demonetisation. It was only after Demonetisation that people became fully aware about the concept of Digital Economy and the idea of becoming a cashless economy. Inspite of scathing criticism over the move, it is seen that people have embraced the change and are readily moving towards an era of digital transactions. Hence an attempt has been made through this paper to understand the implications of post demonetisation, behavioural change in financial habits among the residents of Nalbari Town and adoption of digital wallet.
