Abstract

The article examines the significance of information systems (IS) for the development of the national economy in the context of digitalization, as well as the main challenges and prospects for their implementation. In today's world, information systems are an essential tool for optimizing business processes, enhancing competitiveness, and achieving economic stability. However, IS integration faces several challenges, including insufficient infrastructure, lack of financial resources, cyber threats, shortage of specialists, and the need to improve regulatory frameworks. The aim of the article is to study the role of IS in shaping the national economy and to analyze the impact of digital technologies on the efficiency and productivity of economic activities. Materials and Methods used in the research include the analysis of recent scientific publications, statistical data, and the successful digitalization experiences of leading countries, such as Estonia, the USA, Japan, Germany, and South Korea. Comparative analysis, systems analysis, and synthesis methods were employed. Results of the study indicate that IS play a crucial role in optimizing government administration, the financial sector, industry, and small businesses. In the public sector, IS enables process automation, enhances transparency, and reduces costs. In the financial sphere, IS provides security, speed, and accessibility for transactions. In industry, they contribute to productivity growth through automation and resource optimization. For small and medium-sized businesses, IS offers tools for market analysis and efficient management, increasing their competitiveness. The prospects for applying international experience in Ukraine highlight the need for adapting best practices in IS implementation. Key tasks include developing infrastructure, strengthening cybersecurity, improving digital skills, and establishing an appropriate regulatory framework. Estonia, for instance, has a successful e-governance model that could serve as a foundation for digital initiatives in Ukraine. In Japan, active use of IS in manufacturing has ensured high product quality and cost reduction. The experience of other countries confirms that effective IS integration can foster sustainable national economic development.
