Abstract

This article deals with the issues of literary translation by means of the intermediate language in particular the translation of “Sans famille” from Russian into Uzbek. “Sans famille” is the story written by Hector Malot, who is the author of many books intended both for seniors, and for children and youth. This story is translated into many languages, some of the translations are made directly of the original text and others made by means of the intermediate language. Translation by Surayo Saydalieva of this work in 1965 from the Russian version issued by Kazakh State Edition in 1960 also belongs to such translations. Despite the certain errors, the Uzbek translation of the story shows the best correlation with the Russian translation. However, the comparison of the original text and two translations gives some interesting moments.
