FUNCTIONING OF THE PERSONAL NAME SYSTEM IN ANCIENT CHINA

In this article the taboo phenomenon is considered, which means a prohibition on commission of certain actions. For this purpose, there is consistently presented taboo enforcement of names and surnames and its prohibition features, which arose in public life. The analysis of taboo rules during different eras and ways of expansion of taboo enforcement spheres is carried out. It is proved in the article, that for a long time people have believed in sacral, supernatural purpose of the word, possibility to influence on surrounding reality through the language. That's why it is with confidence approved, that taboo is not only ethnographic concept, but it can extend to the language facts.
