Abstract

The study aimed to search the best formula for rubber compound of inner tire in motorcycle as required by the SNI 06-1542-2006. The experiment design included the effect of bagasse carbon as filler to substitute carbon black in rubber compounding. Five formulas were designed to observe the effect of bagasse carbon loading which were A (25 phr of bagasse carbon : 0 phr of carbon black); B (18,75 phr : 6,25 phr); C (12,5 phr : 12,5 phr); D (6,25 phr : 18,75 phr); and E (0 phr : 25 phr) respectively, each formulas was repeated three times. The results showed that all formulas meet the standards, except for formula A for the value of tear resistance (7,35 N/m2). The best formula was C, which contained 12,5 phr of bagasse carbon and 12,5 carbon black, the mechanical properties for this compound were : hardness 52 Shore A, tensile strength 14,45 kg/cm2, elongatin at break 7,95 N/mm2, set comperession 11%, the decrease of hardness 52 share A, the decrease of tensile strength 1,56% and the decrease of elongation at break 1,72%.
