Abstract
The article is dedicated to the attribution of a portrait of the famous ballerina Petersburg theater Avdotia Ilinichny Istomina (1799–1848), owned by the museum collection of Musical Culture, M. I. Glinka, which had been on the work of an unknown artist. The article describes the author's name,
the French portraitist Henry François Riesener (1767–1818). As proof of this statement is given a number of arguments. They are based on historical evidence and of comparative technical- technological investigations of painting. Determination author's portrait confirms the presence and importance of contacts between French and Russian representatives of art.
