Abstract
Xu Beihong (July 19, 1895 — September 26, 1953) is a Chinese painter and graphic artist, one of the first Chinese artists of the 20th century, who brought together national artistic traditions with the achievements of European painting.
From numerous manuscripts written by Xu Beihong it becomes obvious that the desire to create a unified educational program for the Chinese school of art inspired the artist to travel abroad for studies. The pedagogical ideology and educational programs of Xu Beihong exerted significant influence on the development of art education in China.
