Abstract

This article analyzes interpretations of actors traditional theatres of East: Kabuki and Balinese drama as embodiment hieroglyphs, made A. Arto and L. Pronko, undertook in the context comparison theatrical cultures traditional East and modern West. In the opposite western theatre devotion for intellectualism and psychology, which Arto and Pronko correlate with «logocentrism» and fonetical system of writing, eastern traditional theatre is ritual and metaphysical, which suggestiveness depend on art form, which symbolize by hieroglyphic actor. Hieroglyph definite by Arto and Pronko as intersection of more than one mode of knowing or more than one medium of communication
