About the problem of musicological typology in Xiao Youmei’s writings

This article examines the contribution of musical doer, composer, scientist Xiao Youmei to the formation and development of Chinese musicology of the XXth century. A special place in his scientific heritage is the problem of classification of musicology as a scientific discipline. The article presents the contents of scientific publications about this subject. In the Chinese musical science typology of musicology was first taken by Xiao Youmei, he was based on the traditions of Austro-German musicological school. For each field of musicology — ​musical acoustics, musical psychology, musical aesthetics, musical theory and history — ​this article presents some separate positions of musical-theoretical concept of scientist. Xiao Youmei's views are compared with the positions of his scientific director Hugo Riemann, Soviet scientists and modern Chinese musicologists. During the work proved fundamental meaning of Xiao Youmei's musicological classification for the subsequent development of Chinese musical science.
