Abstract
Background. Various impairments of reproductive function in men after herniotomy are associated with both intraoperative complications and possible influence of reticulated endoprostheses on the structural elements of the spermatic cord. The aim of the research was to study the influence of polypropylene and polytetrafluoroethylene endoprostheses on the structure of ductus deferens and testicular vessels in rats. Material and methods. We conducted an experiment on 21 male rats in order to reveal the influence of reticulated endoprostheses on the structure of ductus deferens and the vessels feeding the sex gland. We used modern methods of light microscopy and morphometry. Results. Structural characteristics of ductus deferens and testicular vessels in rats of the experimental groups are presented on the micrographs and in the tables. Conclusions. Reticulated endoprostheses that have been used in the experiment do not cause significant structural changes in ductus deferens and vessels feeding the sex gland of rats.
