METHODOLOGICAL ASPECTS OF THE USE OF ROLE-PLAYING GAMES AT FOREIGN LANGUAGE LESSONS

Abstract

The main peculiarity of the interactive methods of teaching foreign language is to prepare children for life and social activity in civil society and democratic legal state. There is a large number of interactive exercises, but the most common and one of the most effective means of solving problems of teaching foreign language communication is role-playing game. Role-playing game has a great potential in teaching, educational and developmental aspects. In the game the student improvises freely, plays the role of an active interlocutor. Role-playing game that is mainly based on the solution of specific problems, ensures optimal activation of the communicative activity of students in the classroom. Role-playing game stimulates the desire of children to contact with each other and the teacher, creates equal conditions in conversational activities, destroys a traditional barrier of uncertainty. Role-playing games have a positive effect on the formation of cognitive interests of students, promote a conscious mastering of the foreign language, development of such qualities as independence, initiative; fostering a sense of community. It helps to activate the processes of mental activity, to generate an interest for knowledge, to have a positive effect on child development. The use of game method of teaching facilitates the implementation of important teaching tasks: the creation of the psychological readiness of students for speech communication; ensuring the need for frequent repetition of linguistic material; training of students in the selection of the required speech variant that is preparation for the situational spontaneity of speech. There are different views as at what stage role-playing game should be. However, despite the fact that in the process of role-playing there is simultaneous improvement and development of skills in using language material, the majority of authors are inclined to believe that the most appropriate way is to conduct role playing game at the final stage of work at the topic. To have effective results, role-playing game must meet the basic requirements as: stimulation of learning motivation, good preparation and clear organization, , acceptance of game by the whole group and realization of the game in friendly and creative atmosphere. Technology of role-playing game consists of several stages: preparation stage, stage of explanation, stage of implementation, stage of analysis and generalization. It is important to understand that a properly organized role-playing game in the classroom not only delivers maximum pleasure for the child, but is a powerful tool for his development, a means of creating a personality.
