Abstract

The topicality and the importance of the problems of gender socialization of the modern youth in family are substantiated in the article. The concepts of «gender» and «gender socialization» are defined and explicated. The problems of modern young family conditioned by a low moral and psychological grounding of the spouses before marriage, family life, lack of knowledge and spouses' misunderstanding of interpersonal relationships in the family are explained. By means of analysis it was determined that an important role in gender socialization of youth play confidential and friendly relationships between children and parents. A high authority of parents ensure the success of educational influence. The attitude of the parents to their children is determined by a personal experience and cultural stereotypes. The influence of parents on the understanding of their child the gender roles is one of the most important factors of gender socialization. The differences in the influence of father and mother on the formation of gender identity of a child are elucidated in the article. Two main types of maternal love have been analyzed. They include: altruistic, sacrificial love (a positive one, which has constructive character in bringing up a child) and egoistic, blind love (a negative one, which sometimes leads to deformation of the personality). It was discovered that the father is a conductor between a child and society. The lack of knowledge about different methods used by parents is frequently a source of serious divergence in views in the family. The results of the survey conducted among parents considering their views about gender education of children are presented in the work. By means of questionnaire we have determined that most of parents do not know the peculiarities of sexual development and do not have pedagogical and methodological skills of solving this problem with their children. Incompetence in this field cause incorrect attitude to this important life aspect. We have come to a conclusion that there is a need to educate parents pedagogically, which includes providing them with a minimum knowledge about gender education of children, of psychological and pedagogical character. The leading role in realization of psychological and pedagogical education of parents stays for social workers, social pedagogues and school psychologists. It is them who should instruct parents with the content and methodology of gender education; consult parents individually; organize thematic meetings for parents about gender education.
