WORK WITH THE DOCUMENTATARY TERMINOLOGY AT CLASSES OF THE UKRAINIAN LANGUAGE FOR PROFESSIONAL PURPOSES

Introduction. There are a number of key tasks before the higher school today, one of which is the formation of a skilled future worker and a developed linguistic personality. Indeed, proper proficiency in a professional language and terminology is an indicator of a high-level professional. Purpose. The purpose of the article is to develop new methods and tools that activate the cognitive activity of students during documentary terminology study at the lessons of the Ukrainian language for special purposes. Results. The professional activity of a specialist in a specific field of science will depend on how strictly one masters the basic terminology. Operating with the documentary terminology in the Ukrainian language for special purposes classes should be conducted in two main directions. The first direction is to acquire the habits of systematic work with professional literature – dictionaries, reference books, manuals (both electronic and paper). The second direction gives independence and activating of the speech and thought process to a student; exercises are creative and contribute to increase of the professional and general level. Originality. Among the proposed types of tasks, most effective are the design of the minimal terminological dictionary, terminological dictation, work with communicative themes, translation of documentary terms with the subsequent introduction of them in different style texts. Conclusion. Thus, the indispensable condition to acquire the sufficient professional and linguistic competence by students should be the systematic study of the elements of documentary terminology, which will promote the raising of the personal professional level in the future.
