CONCEPT OF SYSTEMIC FORMING THE FOREIGN LANGUAGE TEACHERS’ PROFESSIONAL IMAGE

Abstract

Introduction. New conditions of life require fundamental changes in foreign languages teachers' professional training. Thus a problem of foreign languages teachers' professional image forming as a guide for training at higher school becomes actual and causes the necessity of developing the system of its forming, the implementation of which would contribute to foreign language teachers' success in the society and promote the possibility of their self-presenting as professionals in the pedagogical and other environments. Purpose. The article is aimed at developing the concept of systemic forming the foreign languages teachers' professional image at higher educational institutions. Methods. While conducting the investigation a set of scientific methods were used. Among them are theoretical analysis of scientific literature to define the conceptual apparatus of the research; systematization and generalization of analysed theoretical sources to determine scientific paradigms and approaches; systemic analysis of foreign languages teachers' professional image and the process of its forming to refine their systemic characteristics and peculiarities. Results. The key methodological concept of scientific search is the systemic principle (systemic approach), which is the basis for considering the foreign languages teacher's professional image and the process of its forming at higher pedagogical educational establishment as a dynamic systems. This conceptual position is concretized in the following statements. 1. Foreign language teacher's professional image is a holistic image that characterizes the teacher both as a person and a professional of its sphere aimed at ensuring successful professional career by forming positive public opinion as well as at promoting teacher's social success. 2. In structural terms, the foreign language teacher's professional image is a dynamic system consisting of such components: value-motivational (values, needs, activity motives, ability to reflection); epistemological (system of knowledge necessary for successful teaching activity), activity (skills and habits to solve professional tasks) personal, which has the external (behaviour style, communication culture, clothes, hair-do, household environment) and internal (attitudes, moral credo and personal qualities) displays. These components, taken together, contribute to integrative holistic foreign language teacher's image, the image of his social and professional role. 3. The process of foreign languages teacher's professional image forming is a part of the process of forming the harmonious, many-sided personality, for whom his professional and educational activity are an integral part of life and the condition for his personal and professional realization. 4. The top condition for the effective forming the future foreign language teachers' professional image is providing systemic pedagogical process at higher educational institutions, namely its integrity and harmonious interaction between all components. 5. The effectiveness in forming the future foreign language teachers' professional image is achieved by projecting the pedagogical system aimed at its forming and by working out its structural model. Originality. The conceptual bases of future foreign language teachers' professional image forming at higher educational institutions are grounded on the basis of the systemic principle. Conclusion. Understanding research objects as systems is one of the peculiarities of our scientific knowledge today. The developed conceptual position determines the strategy and tactics of solving the problem of providing systemic forming the future foreign language teacher's professional image and causes the necessity for a substantial restructuring of the educational process at higher educational institutions.
