A MODERN HIGHER SCHOOL TEACHER’S POSITIVE IMAGE: TOPICALITY AND PROSPECTS OF SCIENTIFIC STUDIES

Abstract
The article is devoted to analysis of various scientific approaches to defining the essence of the concept of "image". Classification of image based on criteria is considered. Correlation of the terms "professional image" and "image of a high school teacher" is specified. The author focuses on the analysis of the features and components of a positive image of teachers of modern higher educational establishments, and also offers the prospects of further complex study of conformities of forming effective professional career of the teaching staff. Forming modern generation of a teaching staff is impossible without development of a set of fundamentally new model of professional improvement, which is based on amounts of schemes of organization and content of education, promoting the best educational practices, particularly involving mastery of methods and technology of research and innovation competence. The main activities of a teacher of Higher Educational Establishment are educational, scientific and methodical, research, educating and deliberative. The high school teacher provides systematic information influencing, forms ideas, values and ways of behaviour in every participant of educational process. Therefore, it is need to create the image of the teacher, by which the authority and prestige of the teacher's personality is formed in a society. Within this issue it is important to study the characteristics and conditions of forming the teachers' positive image. The analysis of scientific and educational resources indicates permanent (constant) interest to the problem of forming the image in general and the professional and pedagogical image in particular. Thus, much attention is given to the issue of researching the image (conceptual bases and practical tools of imageology) in scientific works of native and foreign scientists and researchers such as P. Berd, L. Brown, F. Gefkins, M. Spillain, O. Panasiuk, O. Perelyhina, H. Pocheptsov, V. Shepel and others. Forming the pedagogical image of a high school teacher is investigated by N. Huziy, V. Isachenko, A. Morozov, S. Panchuk, O. Chebykin, I. Chertykova and others. Results of the analysis of scientific papers allowed us to formulate own definitions of the concepts "the image" and "the positive image of the high school teacher". Thus, "the image" is the formed image of a person or an organization that aims to implement through professional efforts emotional, psychological and intellectual influencing to promote the entity (a person or an organization). The concept "the positive image of a high school teacher" is a such integrated feature, that includes a set of external and internal, personal, individual and professional qualities of a teacher that promote effective and positive pedagogical activity. The formation of a pedagogical image is difficult due to the influence of a set of factors: the needs of educational objectives, teacher's possibilities, satisfaction of participants of the educational process and etc. The teacher's positive educational image becomes one of the main resources that ensure high social prestige and is a significant factor in contributing to successful functioning the national system of higher education. So, it causes the necessity of purposeful training of prospective high school teachers to creating a positive professional pedagogical image. We associate the prospects of the further research with the study of features of perception the image of a humanitarian, natural, technical and technological disciplines by students. The integrated study of forming the effective and professional career of a teaching staff is noteworthy.
