Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to show the current state of affairs in the electricity market and the level of achievement of the policy goals to which a developed electricity market is instrumental. The electricity market is considered as a policy tool for broader objectives of economy competitiveness, tackling climate change and energy security. The paper states that the current state of development of the electricity market is one of a hybrid model containing both free and regulated segments with considerable government share and insufficiently impartial regulation.
