Abstract
The article focuses on correlation between the propensity to addiction and alexithymia. The issue is not sufficiently studied, but it is extremely important due to the high level of alcohol abuse. The article tells us about the reasons of addiction and describes alexithymia with its influence on the process of psychotherapy. The author bases herself upon the results of her study, in which she used the following techniques: Toronto Alexithymia Scale and “Addictive tendency” questionnaire. Analyzing the results, the author reveals a direct correlation between the level of alexithymia and tendency to addiction. The author makes the assumption that the obtained results may further serve the purpose of preventing alcohol abuse.
