Abstract
Stainless steels are structural materials used for a wide range of applications. One of the fields of application of these highly corr o- sion resistant materials is for various medical applications. Different methods of mechanical property impro vement have been studied in recent years to increase the durability of component s manufactured from these materials. The main goal of this study was an analysis of fatigue strength improvement of the AISI 316Ti austenitic stainless steel by shot peening. A s ignificant improvement of surface hardness, yield strength and fatigue limit by shot peening was observed in this study . This is despite increas ing the surface roughness which usually degrades material's fatigue strength.
