THE INFLUENCE OF SCIENTIFIC AND TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENT ON THE STRUCTURE OF MEDICAL UNIVERSITIES OF UKRAINE AT THE END OF THE XX – THE BEGINNING OF THE XXI CENTURIES

Introduction. In the article the process of organizational structure of the higher medical educational institutions of Ukraine improvement under the influence of scientific and technical progress in medicine is examined. The period of the end of the ХХ – the beginning of the ХХІ centuries is represented. It is shown that the emergence of new directions in medical science, the development of new diagnostic and treatment technologies cause the need to master the content of new branches of medicine by specialists trained in modern medical universities. New scientific disciplines have their own special terminology, principles, sources of information, and also create a special clinical practice. All this should be learned by future physicians. Purpose. Identification of the correspondence between the latest trends in the development of medical science and technology and structural changes in medical universities of Ukraine at the end of the twentieth and early XXI centuries. Originality. The article analyzes the process of the emergence of new organizational forms (specialized courses, departments) in medical universities of Ukraine, the content of which is the introduction of new areas of medicine in educational process. In particular, it is reported about the development of teaching in the fields of neurosurgery, radiation medicine, medical genetics, medical informatics, extreme medicine and catastrophic medicine, laboratory diagnostics. The facts presented in the article justify that the development of medical science and technology undoubtedly affects the structural changes in the educational units of higher medical educational institutions of Ukraine at the end of the XX - the beginning of the XXI centuries. The process of organizational changes in medical education under the influence of scientific and technological progress usually takes place on the basis of already existing training units, providing an organic transition from traditional branches of medicine to new ones. It is noted that at the current stage of the medical education development in Ukraine there is a more active reaction of the educational process to innovations in science and technology. New, progressive phenomena and trends for several years come to the introduction in the educational process of medical universities. At the same time, changes in the organizational structure of medical institutions in general reflect the progressive state of modern medicine. Conclusion. The above facts indicate that the development of medical science and technology undoubtedly affects the structural changes in educational subdivisions of higher medical educational institutions of Ukraine at the end of the XX - beginning of the XXI centuries.
