Abstract
Generally translation is a difficult task, especially if it is the translation of cultural texts. This complexity is due to culture-bound words in general and to gnostic words in particular. In the foregoing research, the researcher had two main objectives. First the translation of culture-bound words in Pazargadi's translation of Hafiz's poems was inspected in order to find out the extent to which the translator has been successful in conveying connotative meaning of gnostic words to the target language readers. The second purpose was to figure out to what extent the translator has done successfully and effectively. It was essential that using some translation principles, the translator has conveyed just a small part of the hidden connotative meanings of the culture-bound words in but he has not been fully successful in this procedure.
