Abstract
New technology has been developed that many people in the past have never dreamt of. Schools are the environments where new leaders of evolutional teams start to be formed, and technology used at schools has so much to say. Smart Board is getting increasingly popular as an effective tool for conducive teaching and learning. The main concern of the present study is to investigate whether the EFL learners’ vocabulary retention of the newly learned words significantly differ by using interactive whiteboard. To carry out this study, a total of 30 female participants at secondary school in komijan city were randomly selected. A general English proficiency test was administered to both groups. Because two groups in pre test and post test were the same, paired sample t-test has been used for measuring this effect. Statistical analyses including this test revealed the following outcome: no significant difference in efl learners’ retention was observed based on teaching vocabulary using interactive whiteboard and whiteboard.
