Abstract
The article analyzes the possibilities of professional education in improving the quality of the higher education system and in training competitive personnel. Improving the quality of the higher education system is studied through the transfer of culture to a new generation, the system-forming nature of professional education, the innate potential, based on advanced thinking, social characteristics of the assimilation and formation of an individual's social experience in the educational process. It also analyzes issues related to functional illiteracy in education, the volume and quality of knowledge defined in universities
