Abstract
The article analyzes the reasons and difficulties of transferring stylistic means. The main features of the imagery of the work of art are established. The specifics of the translator's choice of certain equivalents of stylistically colored vocabulary are studied. The necessity of adequate transfer of figurative information of a work of art as the main aspect for studying the translation of figurative means is considered. Harper Lee's novel "To Kill a Mockingbird" was chosen to analyze the main stylistic means. A comparative analysis of figurative means used by the author in the original work and the translator. To guarantee the adequate variant of translation, the translator usually restores to some lexical and stylistic transformations.
