Abstract
The article examines the key trends of recent changes to the criminal legislation of Ukraine regarding the state's response to sexual crimes against children, analyzes proposals on the possibility of introducing a chemical castration procedure and the Unified Register of Sexual Offenders in the Criminal Code of Ukraine for sexual crimes against children. In particular, there is a thorough analysis and generalization of academic works aimed to researching chemical castration not only as punishment, but primarily as medical measures aimed to preventing the repetition of the sexual offence. The experience of foreign countries that already use such or an alternative set of actions against criminals who have committed such crimes is analyzed. The advantages and disadvantages of using such measures are critically considered.
