Abstract

In contemporary society, we have experienced that education is a continuous, dynamic process that requires all subjects to actively build new knowledge. Thus, when it comes to everyday school life, we highlight the role of the pedagogical coordinator, who is one of the professionals who plays an essential role in the construction of educational practice, in which he seeks to direct the pedagogical work in the school he operates. Recognizing its role and aiming to develop a dialogical and collaborative planning. In this context, this research aims to understand the role of the pedagogical coordinator andtheir respective attributions, seeking to identify the main obstacles and challenges faced by this professional in the school context. We theoretically support the contributions of: Vasconcellos (2002; 2009), Libâneo (2004), Imbernón (2011), Zen (2012), Freire apud Brandão (1982), Piletti (1998) among others. The methodology used was of a qualitative approach, having as an instrument for data collection, the class diaries, following Zabalza's guidelines. The locus of our research was a state public school located in the city of Caraúbas/RN. The results show that to deal with the dilemmas of the function, the coordinator needs to overcome challenges, such as: improving their own training, establishing relationships of harmony, respect and professionalism, building a collective work based on the discussion of ideas to improve school culture without imposition, but by necessity, aiming in this way, the construction of a quality public education.
