Giftedness is a systemic psyche quality that is developing throughout life and determines a person's ability to achieve a high level of development of both general and special abilities. It is a complex mental formation, which combines cognitive, emotional, volitional, motivational, psychophysiological and other areas of psyche. Its features can be permanent or temporary and manifest themselves explicitly or implicitly. The monograph of the famous Ukrainian scientist N. Lavrychenko «Acknowledging and Developing Giftedness» analyzes the theoretical and applied problems of psychological and pedagogical assistance to the development of gifted children and youth. The knowledge in the field of giftedness accumulated by scientists of different generations in different specialties is generalized. The nature and essence of giftedness as an object of research in the set of main preconditions, manifestations, characteristics, as well as determining circumstances, factors and catalysts of development is revealed. For realization of the research project 336 scientific works of Ukrainian, Russian, English, French, German scientists were used. The research materials are presented in three chapters of the monograph. The first chapter «Modeling Giftedness as an Object of Scientific Research» deals with the essence and structure of the recognized by the scientific community giftedness models by R. Sternberg, J. Renzulli, A. Tannebaum, G. Gardner, F. Gane, K. Dombrovsky and also the Munich model of giftedness. In the second chapter «Psychological and Pedagogical Problems of a Gifted Personality Developing» the process of developing a gifted personality is studied taking into account both objective and subjective preconditions, as well as the factors of its passing. In the third section «Developing Sectoral Types of Giftedness» the author analyzes features of manifesting and developing special abilities and talents that correspond to a particular field of knowledge. The monograph is addressed to a wide audience of reades: teachers, psychologists, social workers, students, gifted children and their parents, employees of specialized and out-of-school educational institutions, everybody who works with children and youth.
