STRUCTURE HEALTH MONITORING OF AN OVERHANG BEAM BY USING STRAIN GAUGES AND LVDT

Abstract
Structure Health monitoring is rapidly growing area in structural domain due to it's efficacy in making structure more reliable and safe. In this study an experiment was conducted on an overhang beam to monitor the maximum amount of deflection and strain in beam with the help of strain gauges, lvdts, and later results were validated by mathematical and finite elemental modelling of an overhang beam. It was found out that that the values obtained by experimental was very near to the values obtained from mathematical and finite elemental modelling. The percentage of error was less than ten percent.
