Abstract
This research paper focuses on a pragmatic view of the discourse and what the subject of intentionality, which has philosophical roots, may add to the discourse analysis. In this research, the concept of intentionality is defined in language and heritage and in philosophical and linguistic terminology. Then it concludes with an overview of translation theories and mentions the importance of intentionality in the translation process and how it may be an important resource for the translator and translation critic, alike. Then, an applied part provides a model for translating a debate discourse that shows the most important aspects of intentionality. Finally, the research states the results focusing on the subject of intentionality in translating debates discourse.
