Abstract

Introduction. One of the main directions of developing modern Ukrainian society is the creation of accessible electronic resources and increasing the effectiveness of education through information technology introduction and mass distribution. The constant changes and increase in the amount of educational material cause significant difficulties in its processing and assimilation by education seekers; the traditional forms and methods of teachers' work are becoming less effective, therefore there is an objective necessity to introduce new, more effective teaching methods, under which education seekers will not simply become passive listeners, but also learn to independently find the necessary information in various sources, critically perceive it and be able to process it, think creatively, offer their ways of solving problems and be able to apply in life what they learned during the lessons. The tasks faced by teachers outlined by us can be implemented with the help of web quest technology. Purpose. The article aims to highlight the theoretical foundations of using an educational web quest in labour training lessons. In particular, the historical review of the origin and development of the web quest technology, the review of scientific approaches to the definition and classification of educational web quests types, the definition of didactic principles, highlighting the structure and stages of the educational web quest implementation, the outline of its advantages and educational opportunities during labour training lessons are subject to analysis. Methods. During conducting the research such theoretical scientific methods were used: analysis, synthesis, systematization, abstraction, specification, comparison, and classification, generalization of historical, scientific, and pedagogical sources. Results. The term «quest» originated in the times of ancient civilizations and means a competition, the basis of which is the consistent performance of tasks prepared in advance by teams or individual players. As an educational technology, the quest appeared in 1995 thanks to Bernie Dodge, a professor of educational technology at the University of San Diego, who developed applications for Internet networks that involved the teaching of various educational subjects for integration into the educational process. Originality. In the process of scientific research, the theoretical foundations of using educational web quests in labour training lessons were highlighted, in particular, a historical review of the origin and development of web quest technology, a review of scientific approaches to the definition of this term and the classification of the types of educational web quests according to various characteristics, the definition of didactic principles, implemented due to web quest technology, the structure and stages of educational web quest implementation, outlining its advantages and educational opportunities in labour training lessons were highlighted. Conclusion. A web quest develops education seekers' critical and abstract thinking, analysis and comparison skills, contributes to better assimilation of information, comprehensive students' development in labour training lessons, forms the skills in the use of information-communication technologies for solving educational tasks, the ability to work in a team, public speaking skills, etc.
