Abstract

Introduction. The question of patriotic education reveals itself, first of all, in defining the concept of «patriotism.» The desire to defend one's country and culture can sometimes evolve into nationalism and xenophobia. It is essential to teach young people to distinguish between patriotism and extremism and to give them a proper assessment. At the same time, there are difficulties with the relationship between patriotism and globalization. In the context of globalization, many people consider themselves citizens of the world, not just their own country. We must teach young people how to balance their love for their homeland and respect for other cultures and countries. Purpose. The idea of patriotism has always been and remains the basis for consolidating society because patriotism is a source of spiritual and moral strength and health of people and their viability, which is most clearly evident at turning points of development in times of difficult trials. Living fully in public and the state is impossible if the education system of the younger generation is devoid of moral foundations and love for the Motherland. The history and philosophy aspect of patriotism implies considering it a socio-historical phenomenon caused by socio- political, economic, ethnocultural, and other characteristics of a concrete society. Methods. Analysis of psychological, pedagogical, and methodical literature on the topic in question, synthesis, comparison, induction and deduction, and analogy were used. Results. Patriotic education begins in childhood and should continue throughout a person's life. It can develop through various forms: education, culture, mass media, scientific institutions, etc. Following the mentioned order, the main tasks of patriotic education are outlined. There are different methods of patriotic education depending on the age, socioeconomic status, and cultural and analytical characteristics of people, but in general, we can identify several basic methods: Historical excursions and expeditions: visits to museums, historical and cultural monuments, and trips to historical sites where people learn more about their country, its history, and traditions. We can see this in the study of the history of the state, its culture, traditions, wars, and economic and social transformations.Indeed, family upbringing plays an essential role in the patriotic feelings development of children and adolescents. The family is the first and most influential social environment for children; it is here that a child receives the first knowledge and ideas about the world around them, about sociocultural norms and values of their nation. One of the ways to implement patriotic education of children and youth in the context of martial law and Russia's war against our country is to improve the legal framework for patriotic education, as emphasized in the article. Originality. The research is relevant due to the insufficient theoretical development of the problem of patriotic education in the conditions of martial law and aggressive warfare by Russia. The issue of developing theoretical and methodological foundations for the training and education of future specialists remains relevant. Conclusion. Thus, we consider patriotic education to be an integral value and spiritual and moral quality of a personality, which is expressed in a sense of love for Ukraine, its language and traditions, a sense of spiritual connection with it, moral responsibility for the fate of the Motherland and readiness to defend it.
